Current system had two electrodes in used, a sensor electrode and a 5v/Gnd electrode. The device can talk to ableton and sending midi to make sound.
The system can now responds to sensor lead, ground and 5v. Sensor lead slightly responds to contact within three fingers, the note change is within 3 semitones. When hand approach to 5v end, the pitching slowly enlarge. Pitch increase immediately when making contact. The pitch will drop to 0 when fully contacted. The ground end will result similar with slowly increase in pitch when hand approaching, but fast respond via contact , the full hand interaction will keep the pitch in high range.
The device can be developed to a musical instrument. Most of the acoustic instruments had two control parameters: pitch and volume, the performer control the volume of a note via different strengths of playing. Control the note dynamically or adding pause can introduce breath to the music. When helps the musician to express themselves emotionally. Referencing through similar electronic instruments volume control is also taken into account when being designed, like the thremine, two antennas are used to control pitch and volume; Hammond organ had a foot pedal to control the volume; even scratch Dj have fader cut off to control the starting point of the playback. The sensor lead in this project is primary to make sound (it has to be contacted while other two antennas are used to enhance the range of pitch), however it is not that sensitive to multi interactions. From a musician point of view, I find it handy to have the sensor lead to activate the note while the other two leads can be used to change pitch, this property is demonstrated in the demo video1. In the video the pitch started to be affected in certain distance and the sensor plate is used to turn the note on.
