Thinkings & Potential projects

Apart from the intern project, several future ideas start to taken shape based on findings in the design process. I will introduce two potential projects:

1.Wearable musical instrument turing any conductive object into music via touch

User is able to map different sound according to different materials, the device allows any conductive object or object has a dielectric different from air into musical instrument.

Showed in concept hero shot, the device works wirelessly and can be connected to mobile device or a computer to generate sound. The design can be used to play music in controlling music notes. Proximity sensing technology will be used to detect different material being touched and further result in different sounds. Human body is used as the electrode.

2.Large scale installation respond to social distancing

Using the characteristic of induction and interaction through foot, large scale installation can be designed in public spaces to warm people of social distancing. The sensor will create a large electric field within which people will be affected. And the distance between peoples will create different pitch in sound. A higher pitch will indicate a close distance, and the pitch within a comfort hearing zone will indicate a safe distnace.
