FOOTPRINT

Noise can be used as a design material, any improvement to the noise can bring benefit to nature and human society. FOOTPRINT is a sound installation project using walking as an agent for self-expression to grasp people’s attention of human producing noise. The interactive device was build from wood panels some of which has embed with mechanisms to make physical sounds. Meanwhile, the walking sound was picked up by contact microphones and manipulated using digital sound effects. The outcome of the machine generates several different experiences to enhance expressiveness. In addition, the project has potential to become a real-life project, which can be applied to footbridges on Yarra river, to improve local sonic environment. 

 

This project got exhibited at MDIT 'Next Exhibition' in 2019 semester 1.
